High Pressure Water Jetting / Blast Cleaning

Atlas MIS are able to supply a range of pressure cleaning and blast cleaning including high pressure water jetting, abrasive blasting, hydroblasting and grit blasting.

High Pressure Water Jetting

High pressure water jetting is used in a range of industrial environments and makes use of water propelled at high speeds to clean surfaces and materials. Applications include cleaning paint from metal surfaces, walls, brickwork and highways. It can also be used together with abrasives for the safe removal of rubber from airfield runways, removing sealants and membranes from concrete and graffiti and chewing gum cleaning for commercial clients and local authorities. We also apply high pressure water jetting or hydro-jetting as an effective method in the cleaning of drainage, removing deposits, grime, scale and roots that can lead to loss of water pressure or blockages. Additional services include comprehensive drainage and sewer cleaning.

Atlas MIS supplies a full range of pressure cleaning services including:

  • Low Pressure Water cleaning (LP WC) - Use of water pressure less than 5000 psiHigh-pressure water cleaning (HP WC) - Use of water pressure between 5000 - 10000 psiHigh-pressure water jetting (HP WJ) - Use of water pressure between 10000 - 25000 psiUltrahigh-pressure water jetting - Use of water pressure between 10000 - 25000 psi

All concrete surfaces requiring the application or reapplication of coatings can be prepared through high pressure water jetting.

This method is ideal for cleaning internal and external surfaces because the operator is generally able to send the stream of water in places that previously were deemed unreachable. A major benefit of hydro-blasting is the ability to recapture and reuse the water, thus eliminating waste and the impact on the environment.

The service is also sometimes referred to as hydro jetting, waterjetting, waterblasting, hydrocleaning, high pressure cleaning, hydroblasting and ultra high pressure water jetting.

Clients who can benefit from our high pressure water cleaning services include manufacturing sites, schools and colleges, businesses requiring external building cleaning, and drainage services.

Abrasive Blasting

Abrasive blasting or air blasting is a method of propelling abrasives using a compressed gas (typically air). Common terms coined to describe this service include sand blasting, shot blasting, grit blasting, bead blasting and blast cleaning.

'Sand Blasting' & Shot Blasting

'Sand blasting' is the operation of cleaning or preparing a surface by forcibly propelling a stream of abrasives against it. The effect is similar to that of using sandpaper, but provides a more even finish with no problems at corners or crannies. Due to the risk of the lung condition Silicosis, materials other than sieved sand are now used instead, for services still loosely referred to as 'sandblasting'. For example, glass beads, metal pellets, grit, dry ice, baking soda and even nut shells. Our Shot Blasting service involves experienced professionals firing minute abrasive particles, under total visual control at your component. This gently etches away surface contaminants. Our experience allows choice of optimum media type, shape and size including grit and bead blasting. Shot blasting solutions are often complimented by powder coating services.

Grit Blasting

Grit blasting services can also be arranged by Atlas MIS. This includes the abrasive blasting of structural steelwork including gantry cranes, platforms, cement silos and sheet pilings. Bridges can also be grit blasted as part of their maintenance. Heavily corroded steelwork can be grit blasted prior to the application of protective coatings. Manufacturing sites, schools, colleges and hospital sites can also benefit from grit blasting. General steelwork blasting includes the preparation of trailers, weigh bridges and steel fences. This method can be used to establish a surface profile or to promote adhesion to a specific type of paint or coating to be applied afterwards.
